Gerrit, thank you for this great Camino reportage. Good Camino stories on YT are truly hard to find. You presented us with not only with great images, the pretty just as the gritty, and you took us along and shared your inner thoughts. That’s not an easy thing to do. And you edited your videos there and then on the way … just alone the multitasking of filming and talking coherently while walking or even when being sick. Chapeau 🎉. I mean it. After three Caminos now it seems you found what you might have been looking for, am I right? I hope you will still consider yet another Camino. … wherever. Maybe just for fun. I was there exactly a month ago. I miss it so much! If you are still there, take the alternative path to the lighthouse (western side of the peninsula) - it's absolutely stunning.

I have walked five caminos, and met true pilgrims walking from Sarria, and some long distance walkers all the way from SJPDP. It’s all about getting to a sacred place and reflecting on your own personal way. It’s about the destination.

Brilliant monologue Siebert. I started May 3 but stayed at Orisson so was similar pace. LOVE your observations, they are helping me return to Canada... which is hard to find my new way.

Thank you for the wonderful video and your commentary. My wife and I finished the Camino Francis on May 31st and I experienced all of the same feelings and thoughts you so eloquently voiced in this video upon reaching Sarria. We are fortunate that we had the ability and resources to walk the entire Francis but also feel that the last 100km is not reflective of the joy, pain and reflection of the much longer pilgrimage. While we recognize walking the entire journey is not possible for everyone, I appreciate your important distinction between the blind couple and the tourist element. We tried to avoid the crowds as much as possible by also going off stage which worked out reasonably well for us. The Camino is such a unique and cherished experience there is great risk to diluting this wonderful journey of the body mind and soul to a simplistic tourist event with throngs of buses and stamp gathering masses. Thank you again for appropriately trying to articulate this very sensitive topic!

Thank you for sharing your Camino. I started my Camino in mid-March 2024 in SJPP and arrived in Santiago toward the end of April. I've now been home for almost 2 months, and I think about it every day, several times a day. I'm still processing the experience, and may process it for a long time to come. The memories came flooding back watching this video. The same paths, the same cafes and bars and oases, and seemingly some of the same people serving cafe con leche. I don't know if I have another Camino in me, but I do know that I will come back to your videos again. All the best and Buen Camino!

I have binge-watched a fair few camino dairies over the past couple of years and am grateful to those of you that are willing to spend time on/ put the effort into making them. I won't be able to do the walk myself for a long time to come, so thank you. The Alaskan Pilgrim and yours are my favorits on the French Way, but haven't found a really good series for del Norte/via Primotivo yet, which is the one I want to do first. As someone who has lost 90% of their hearing of my right ear, noise pollution is such a huge impact on our lives we don't even realize until it is too late. An odd joy I had when the lockdown of Covid was in full effect here in Canada, was my daily 6km walk to work when there were almost no cars on the roads, no large trucks, or busses. Just a few of us walking or on bikes, it was in those moments I realized how much we as a society have lost due to our constant background noise levels. My loss of hearing has only amplified my need for quiet and how much I appreciate the moments of quiet when hiking in nature. Take the time to appreciate the quiet moments and really listen to what you can hear when the noise of civilization is silenced for a short while.
